Local man charged following woman's murder

A man has been charged in connection with the death of a woman in Oldham.
Daniel Smith (aged 41) of Park Road in Oldham, has been charged with murder.
He has been remanded into custody ahead of an appearance at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court today (Monday).
Officers were called around 12.15pm last Thursday (March 4) to a report of concern for the welfare of a woman at an address on Ashton Road in Oldham.
Emergency services attended and a woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident has been referred to the IOPC as per standard procedure following previous police contact.
Meanwhile, another man arrested on suspicion of murder has been released under investigation.
Formal identification of the woman has not yet taken place.
