Triple awards nomination boost for talented Ashley

Date published: 08 March 2021

A Failsworth hair salon, owned by locally-based Ashley Higgins, has been nominated for THREE top industry awards.

Despite the business having been closed for months due to the ongoing coronavirus restrictions, Ashley has been recognised because the awards are based on previous work and are judged by pictures and videos on social media platforms.

After submitting an online application for the awards, Ashley and her salon have been nominated for the ‘People’s Choice Award’ and the ‘Hair Extension Specialist of the Year’ at the UK Hair and Beauty Awards, as well as the ‘Business Person of the Year’ gong at the Social Media Worldwide Hair and Beauty Awards.

Ashley, who has worked in the hairdressing industry for over a decade and last year won a ‘Co-operative Small Business of the Month’ award, told us: “I am extremely proud that we have reached the finals of the hair and beauty awards because thousands of applicants applied.

“I am really looking forward to the virtual awards ceremony on March 31.”

Meanwhile, as well as hoping to become a multi award-winning stylist, Ashley is also going to be attempting to put lots of effort into a brand new charity initiative.

Ashley explained: “In the last three years I have become a specialist in hair loss in adults and from this I am currently setting up my own charity ‘Little Lady Locks’.

“It is a campaign I run offering free hair systems and wigs to children suffering with alopecia and any other hair loss conditions.

“After initially working with adults suffering with alopecia I realised that there isn’t much help out there for children with hair loss and it went from there.

“We have applied to the Charity Commission to become a registered charity and are awaiting the outcome of this.”
