Rayner joins Ashworth in launching hard-hitting NHS pay poster

Ashton and Failsworth MP Angela Rayner, the Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, and Jonathan Ashworth, Shadow Health Secretary, have launched a hard-hitting poster on the government's 'moral failure' over NHS pay.

The poster depicts a nurse and reads ‘Boris Johnson, look her in the eyes and tell her why you’re cutting her pay’.

The poster was unveiled on an ad van in central London, before driving to 10 Downing Street.

It follows the launch of Labour’s national election campaign on Thursday, where Keir Starmer declared: ‘a vote for Labour is a vote to support our nurses’.

Ms Rayner, said: “The Conservatives have the wrong priorities for our country.

The hard-hitting Labour poster

"Instead of giving our NHS heroes the pay rise they deserve, the Prime Minister is cutting nurses’ pay, cutting spending on the NHS and raising taxes on millions of families.

“Boris Johnson is the only man in Britain who could look from our NHS heroes to Dominic Cummings and decide that Dominic Cummings is the one who deserves a pay rise.

“A vote for Labour in these elections is a vote to support our nurses, NHS staff and the key workers who have put their lives on the line to keep our country going.”

Labour’s Shadow Health Secretary, Jonathan Ashworth, said: “The Tories are putting up tax for hardworking families and cutting pay for hardworking NHS staff in a pandemic.

“These elections are about sending a clear message to Boris Johnson to deliver the resources our NHS deserves.”
