Hero Frank is in demand!

Date published: 07 May 2021

Hero solo Atlantic rower Frank Rothwell has enjoyed a busy week in the spotlight after appearing on BBC Breakfast television this morning and on ITV actress Linda Robson’s exciting new podcast – ‘Growing Bolder’.

Frank, who earlier this year reached his £1 million fundraising target for Alzheimer's Research UK thanks to completing an epic 3,000-mile solo row across the Atlantic Ocean, was joined by the BBC’s Mike Bushell this morning (Friday) as he was interviewed alongside his new friend Jasmine Harrison, a fellow rower who recently became the youngest ever solo female to complete the Atlantic challenge.

Actress Linda’s podcast, meanwhile, brought to listeners by over 50s life insurance provider Zestylife, is a six-part series celebrating the wonderful ways people are living life after the magical age of 50.

In her latest episode which went live this week, she spoke to proud Oldhamer Frank all about how he prepared for the world’s toughest row and what it was like.

Frank is inspiring and entertaining in equal measure, and he talks about why he chose the Alzheimer's Research charity and shares his stories about being the oldest contestant on Bear Grylls the island too.

During the ‘Growing Bolder’ episode, inspirational Frank, who is in his 70s, said: “What I would like people to do is to change that bucket list and turn it into a challenge list.

“Simple things that you can do and something that you do regularly, go on a walk do the same route and try and go a little faster each time.

“Change it to a challenge, that’s what I’d like people to do.”

Linda said: “I think as I’ve gotten older, I’ve gotten wiser too.

“With life comes experience, and I just find older folk more interesting than the young ones, as they aren’t worried about taking selfies or how they look, they’re just comfortable in their own skin.

“I’m a self-confessed nosy person, so getting to know six remarkable people and hear about the ways they’re using their time later in life is fascinating.

“They’ve all achieved wonderful things and are an inspiration to us all.”
