The Sholver and Moorside community team’s fifth annual Flower and Vegetable Show on Saturday raised 396 entries from a range of local allotment holders and community gardens.
In addition there were flowers, vegetables and fruit exhibits that included floral art, home produce, handicrafts, photography and a junior section for entries from the under 15s.
The winners of the Best in Show trophies were:
Best in Show Vegetables (Jack Leeson Trophy) - Ken Hough
Best in Show Flowers - George Tavenor
Best in Show Home Produce and Handicrafts - Helen Booth
The show was open to the public in the afternoon - and as well as the exhibits there was a very busy Tombola stall, horticultural craft stall with Get up and Grow, and flower arranging demonstrations by Kathleen Williams.
There was an art exhibition by our local art group, Guess the Weight of the cake and refreshments provided by volunteers at the community centre.
The event was organised by the Show Secretary, Joyce Ward, with the help of volunteers from the community centre.
