North West-based infection prevention firm, Plasma Clean, based in Oldham, has helped a Stockport gym, MSA Stockport Muay Thai, to double their occupancy levels by creating a safer environment for its members.

With class occupancy down by 75% on pre-pandemic levels due to government imposed limits, MSA Stockport Muay Thai needed a solution to recoup revenue lost during lockdown restrictions by safely increasing capacity levels, whilst giving members confidence to return to the gym.

Via a government grant to support the implementation of infection control measures, Plasma Clean was approached by MSA Stockport Muay Thai to deliver a range of pioneering solutions that would keep its members and staff safe, whilst increasing capacity in the gym.

Plasma Clean’s innovative and affordable solutions included Upper Room UV, which has a proven 99%+ disinfection rate, including protection against SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for Covid-19.

This technology was introduced to combat the heightened infection risks high humidity, CO2 levels and temperatures cause in the gym environment.

Through continuous disinfection, harmful microbes, viruses, bacteria and mould in the circulated air are inactivated.

Intelligent air sensors were also installed, enabling MSA Stockport Muay Thai to monitor its indoor environment in real-time and take action to keep members’ and staffs’ health and wellbeing protected from the potential negative effects of poor air quality.

Steve Keogh, CEO of Oldham headquartered Plasma Clean, said: “Our market-leading technology means MSA Stockport Muay Thai can be assured that their members and staff remain happy, healthy and safe whilst on their premises, whilst also providing a revenue recovery solution through the doubling of their class sizes.

"It’s truly rewarding to know we have supported a fellow Greater Manchester firm in the recovery of its business, along with the wellbeing of its members.“

Mike Richardson, Owner and Senior Instructor at MSA Stockport Muay Thai, said: “Plasma Clean’s expertise and research-led approach provided us with a thorough understanding of the solutions needed to ensure safe air quality levels in the day-to-day running of our gym.

"Their innovative and affordable solutions have helped us to increase both our class sizes and revenue by 200%, ensuring that the health and safety of our staff and gym remains a priority.

"Members can also now have a greater level of confidence to continue to push hard in their training sessions, knowing they’re in a safe and clean environment.”
