The long-awaited report into Child Sexual Exploitation in Oldham will be published 'in the coming weeks'
Conservative Councillors have welcomed the announcement by Oldham Council Leader Amanda Chadderton that the long-awaited report into Child Sexual Exploitation in Oldham will be published in the coming weeks.
Councillor Dave Arnott, the Conservative councillor for Royton North, proposed a motion at the Full Council Meeting on March 16 calling for Government intervention to get the report “over the line”, stating that the publication of the review was not being addressed with the urgency and expediency that concerned residents deserved.
He said: “I am cautiously optimistic, that after so many delays, missed deadlines and false dawns, we may be getting nearer the conclusion of what has been a long and painful wait for so many, but I wait to be convinced.
"I expect this report to make uncomfortable reading for the council."
St James' Councillor Beth Sharp, who seconded the motion and called for fellow women councillors in the chamber to show bravery, added: "I sincerely hope that we will see this report published fully, and in the near future.
"We will expect that elected members are given sufficient opportunity to fully scrutinise the contents of the report, and that the new Council Leader will ensure that a Full Council Meeting is called as soon as practically possible following publication."
