GCSE results day: Oldham Academy North students achieve 'well-deserved' success

Date published: 25 August 2022

The Oldham Academy North community is filled with pride today, as students and staff celebrate what have been described as 'incredible' GCSE results.

The collective hard work and commitment has ensured that Year 11 students will leave with the results needed to achieve their aspirations and become successful young adults.

The challenges and disruptions over the last two years appeared to make The Oldham Academy North students even more determined to succeed.

Staff worked tirelessly to ensure the highest expectations of learning were maintained, with additional pastoral and mental health support available where it was needed.

This ensured students are able to leave the academy equipped with the resilience and educational outcomes needed to proceed onto their desired further education or employment.

The Oldham Academy North staff incredibly proud of all their students, with some outstanding individual performances from Mohammed Ahmed, who achieved five grade 9s and three grade 8s and Rabia Chowdhury who secured seven grade 9s and one grade 8.

They are both now progressing onto A levels, before ultimately moving onto university.

TOAN Headteacher Rachael Hallam said: “I am extremely proud of the achievements of Cohort 22 - they have worked relentlessly through very difficult circumstances over the last two years.

"They should be extremely proud of their results and really celebrate what they have achieved today.

"I am also proud of our staff at The Oldham Academy North, who go above and beyond, having high expectations of our students and who only want the students to be successful, day in and day out.

"Together we have ensured that this cohort of students now have the knowledge, skills and understanding to achieve their aspirations and their goals and I wish them the very best of luck in their next steps.”
