GCSE results day: It's a proud day at Newman

Date published: 25 August 2022

There were lot of very happy faces at Newman RC College this morning as students eagerly opened their GCSE results together with proud family members and staff.

This year saw the return of students sitting externally assessed exams after two years of disruption.

Simple comparison of 2022 GCSE results with the previous two years is therefore not possible, but what must be praised is the hard work and determination shown by Radclyffe's Year 11 students this year, for whom their final three years of secondary school including final exam year were heavily disrupted by covid.

Jennah Amin, Iris Iftikar, Leo Norton, John Haboc and Nithya Shaju achieved an outstanding 31 Grade 9s and 15 Grade 8s between them to be Newman’s highest attaining students this year.

Blessing, Grace and Emmanuella were all delighted with their results

Jennah intends to study Sciences and Maths at Oldham Sixth Form College, and said: “I am overjoyed with my results and I want to give special thanks to my teachers for everything they have done for me.”

Iris wants to study Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Economics, and said: “I'm really happy and relieved.

"My grades are thanks to my teachers and the support school have provided."

Newman’s Head students Blessing Ephrem, Grace Emmanuel and Emmanuella Aul-Mku celebrated achieving five Grade 9s, 11 Grade 8s, 9 Grade 7s and two Grade 6s together.

Head Student Blessing said: “I'm absolutely ecstatic and in disbelief with my results.

"Looking forward to studying Sciences and Maths at Xavarian.

"I would like to thank my teachers, friends and family for supporting me."

Also all smiles were some of Newman’s top achieving students whose phenomenal results achieved well and above their target grades.

Congratulations Connor, Christian, Niahm, Robyn and Jessica

Robyn Jackson, Christian Tan, Jessica Maguire, Niamh Kelly and Ethan Smith-Cooper were all delighted with their grades, a collective testament to their hard work and determination.

Whilst celebrating together with students, Newman Headteacher Glyn Potts said: “We are delighted to see that the talent and efforts of students and staff have been recognised.

"We continue to live our vocation by serving our community and celebrating their God-given talents.

"Congratulations to all of Newman’s Class of 2022 and we wish you the very best for the future."
