Five people are currently in police custody in Oldham
Police in Oldham have taken five people into custody as part of apparent crackdown on the use of BB guns in the town.
A BB gun is a type of air gun designed to shoot metallic spherical projectiles or pellets called BBs.
BB guns tend to be used for either training or target practice.
Some of the more powerful BB guns can be used for pest control purposes and even hunting small game.
A post on the GMP Oldham Central Facebook page this afternoon (Friday) read: "We're aware of reports being made to us in recent days about the use of BB guns in the local area.
"We'll continue to take positive action and actively pursue lines of enquiry.
"Currently, we have five in custody (four arrested last night and one this afternoon) as well as seizing two vehicles and five weapons."
