Oldham Labour would not confirm who the councillor was
A Labour Party councillor in Oldham has been suspended.
It has been reported that the suspension is unrelated to an ongoing police investigation into a councillor suspected of rape.
Oldham Labour has confirmed this.
The person concerned still sits as a Labour councillor.
Oldham Labour would not confirm who the councillor was, but confirmed they had been suspended by the party’s National Executive Committee.
A spokesperson for Oldham Labour said: “We can confirm that a Councillor has been administratively suspended by the national Labour Party due to an internal party issue.
“This is unrelated to any live police investigations regarding an Oldham Councillor.”
Oldham Council will not comment on party matters.
