Police officers taking part in GMP's Operation Sceptre weapons crackdown seized two more highly dangerous knives from people travelling on the Metrolink service.
Firstly, a teenager was caught carrying a huge kitchen knife, so was apprehended.
A post on the GMP City Centre Facebook page read: "Another knife taken off the streets by #GMPTransportUnit staff at Manchester #MCRMetrolink as part of #OpSceptre .
"This time it's a 15-year-old kid with a 13 inch kitchen knife hidden in his underwear.
"Family were shocked when they got the call from Custody."
Yesterday (Tuesday) at Manchester Victoria station, a man was caught concealing a lock knife, and offered a novel excuse when apprehended.
Another post on the Facebook page read: "You like magic?
This trainee wizard does (see image above).
"#GMPTransportUnit searched this male on Victoria #MCRMetrolink station tonight whilst conducting an #OpSceptre knife crime patrol, and found a lock knife in his trousers.
"His reply?
"It must have got there by magic". Nice try Gandalf The Failure.
"He's now sat in Custody waiting for his solicitor to see if they can magic him out of the cell.
"GMP is committed to tackling knife crime and removing dangerous weapons from our communities."
