Hammer-wielding robbers assault woman close to primary school

The offenders demanded the victim’s car keys while holding a hammer and then assaulted her when she refused
Police officers have appealed to the public for information following an attempted robbery on Heron Street in Oldham yesterday (Tuesday).
At around 5.45pm yesterday, police were called to a report of an attempted robbery outside a primary school - understood to be Lyndhurst Primary School - on Heron Street.
Initial enquiries have established that the victim, a woman in her 20s, was approached on the street after leaving the school, by two unknown males, dressed in black with their faces covered.
The offenders demanded the victim’s car keys while holding a hammer and then assaulted her when she refused, before making off on foot, in an unknown direction.
The victim was left shaken but with no serious injuries.
Extra police patrols have been set up in the area and a full investigation has been launched.
Detectives are currently following up on a number of enquiries in an attempt to identify the offenders and anyone with any information, or anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage, is asked to contact Police on 0161 8569066 or 101, quoting log number 2401 of the 3rd January 2023.
