Four Blue Coat pupils celebrate Oxford offers

Date published: 11 February 2023

Four Blue Coat school students are celebrating after being offered places at Oxford University.

They are Muhammed Hussain Ali, Phoebe Broster, Jack Buckley and Ethan Penny.

Headteacher Rob Higgins said "We're all delighted with the success of our students.

"They have worked hard, not only in their A level subjects but going above and beyond the curriculum in their own time. In this they were aided by our well-established Oxbridge Access Programme."

Blue Coat School has a long history of Oxbridge success, and has been invited to be a partner school of New College Oxford to lead on the delivery of their prestigious Step-Up programme, a fully funded sustained contact scheme designed to inspire and support state-school students throughout Year 11, 12 and 13.

Students have regular, consistent contact with the College's Outreach team over three years, ensuring they are fully equipped and supported to make a competitive application.

Mr Higgins added: "We are proud to be identified as a partner school of New College Oxford, which is in recognition for the sustained success of our students, who year on year achieve places at the most competitive universities across the country."
