Officers are investigating a robbery at the Iceland store in Middleton shopping centre.
Two men entered the store via a rear fire door at around 5:50am yesterday (Wednesday) as a member of staff arrived for work.
The offenders forced a staff member to open a safe and they stole a large amount of cash in a mixture of notes and coins before making off on foot towards the Parkfield housing estate.
Detective Sergeant Christopher Shannon, of Rochdale CID, said: "Both suspects had their faces covered but were wearing distinctive jackets - a black Under Armour jacket and a blue Berghaus jacket.
"We want to identify these two men as quickly as possible and would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time."
Anyone with information about this incident should contact police on 0161 856 8719 quoting log 506-15/2/2023.
