Police are now appealing for witnesses to the assault
Police are seeking witnesses after a woman was allegedly assaulted and pushed down a staircase.
On Friday (March 3) at around 4am, police were called to reports of an assault on Long Street in Middleton.
Officers attended and it is believed that a woman had been assaulted and pushed down a staircase by a man, the assault then continued onto the street.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to the assault.
One man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of attempt assault and bailed pending further enquires.
PC Gyves, from GMP’s Rochdale district, said: “We are appealing for any witnesses who were in the area at the time.
“We believe that somebody may have shouted from across the street during the assault to try and stop it from continuing."
