Oldham gritters will be out treating the network again tonight
After the chaos following overnight snow this morning (Friday), Oldhamers have been warned about the dangers of ice tonight and tomorrow morning.
Heavy snow across Oldham led to the closure of numerous schools in the borough today.
A thick coating of snow greeted many Oldhamers when they rose, with schools having to act swiftly to communicate the news of closures.
While the snow has largely disappeared from lower lying areas now, it's ice which could well present numerous headaches tonight and tomorrow.
A post on the Oldham Council Facebook page read: "Clear skies are expected for most of tonight, with light wind causing a potential risk of further snow drifts.
"Temperatures are expected to drop as low as -10C in places, so there is severe risk of ice too.
"Our gritters still treating the network, including secondary routes across the borough, and work is ongoing to reopen the A672, with our teams also working to clear snow on country lanes.
"Take care, plan your journeys and travel safely."
