Chadderton man charged with weapon and drug offences

A man from Chadderton has been charged with a weapon offence and a drug possession offence following a police patrol in Rochdale earlier this week.
A post on the GMP Rochdale Facebook page read: "Ashley Milne (aged 31) of Grampian Close in Oldham, was charged on Tuesday, April 4 for being in possession of a bladed article and possession of Class C drugs.
"The arrest follows proactive patrols of the #OpVenture team in Rochdale.
"Operation Venture is a team of dedicated officers put together to reduce knife crime and serious violence across Greater Manchester.
"They use a combination of high visibility and plain clothes patrols which means even when you can't see them our officers are in place, keeping people and communities safe
"They have also carried out weapons sweeps in Broadfield Park and Freehold Kick Park to detect weapons that may have been hidden or discarded."
