Police discover cannabis farm worth £60k in Chadderton

Date published: 14 April 2023

A police neighbourhood crime team in Oldham uncovered a cannabis farm with an estimated street value of £60,000.

At around 1pm yesterday afternoon (Thursday), officers conducted a warrant at an address on Coalshaw Green Road.

Initial searches of the building uncovered four rooms of cannabis plants.

A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis and abstracting electricity.

He remains in police custody for questioning.

Police Sergeant Coggin, of GMPs Oldham Neighbourhood Crime Team, said: "Our officers are working hard to crack down on drug related crime in the area.

“Oldham’s Neighbourhood crime Team focus on the execution of warrants and tasks reacting to intelligence led crime trends and district threats.

"This was a very well equipped, large cannabis farm likely involving a number of people at different levels of the drug supply chain.

"We hope that this find significantly disrupts the supply of cannabis in the area, which ultimately makes our local communities safer.

"In order to keep on disrupting drug manufacturing in Oldham we need the public to report any information they may have to us, and I would urge anyone who has information about cannabis farm, or anyone connected to it, to please contact us so we can bring these people to justice."

Anyone who has any information should call police on 101 or use the GMP Website Live Chat facility, quoting incident number 1435 of 13/04/2023.
