Oldham’s Saddleworth and Lees Neighbourhood police officers have challenged their communities to donate to a local foodbank.
A post on the GMP Saddleworth and Lees Facebook page read: "At GMP we believe that policing is more than just arresting criminals and stopping crime.
"For us, it is much more than this – we strive to help those most in need in the communities we serve.
"The donations will be distributed to local foodbanks in order to support your community and the box will be moved to a different location every two weeks.
"Oldham’s Saddleworth and Lees neighbourhood policing team challenge residents to donate food to the foodbank."
The first location is outside the Saddleworth and Lees police station in Uppermill.
Police Sergeant Craig Dickinson, of Oldham’s Saddleworth and Lees station, said: “I would like to challenge the community to see which area can fill the box the quickest.
"You can place food stuff, cleaning products and child products including nappies and baby food.
"The box will be outside Saddleworth and Lees station in Uppermill from now, for two weeks.
"The box will then move to an undisclosed location.
“Keep an eye out – we will be releasing the second location for the box shortly and it could be coming to a location near you.”
