Saddleworth Whit Friday Church walks organisers are trying to raise £1,000
The legendary Saddleworth Whit Friday Church walks are one of the longest running local events and attract hundreds of spectators from the local villages and beyond each year.
Historically the cost of putting on the walks have been borne by members of the church congregations that walk.
However, in recent years the costs have escalated.
Organisers have therefore been forced into taking the unusual step of asking for donations from outside the usual sources.
They are trying to raise £1,000, and ask local businesses and or local people who enjoy the walks for as much of a donation as they see fit.
