Royton and Shaw police officers have issued a reminder to dog owners of their responsibilities after a number of recent incidents where local residents have suffered injuries.
A post on the GMP Royton and Shaw Facebook page today (Wednesday) read: "We have had a couple of incidents reported recently where dogs have escaped from gardens and caused injury to members of the public.
"Remember it is your responsibility to keep your animal under control and this includes in a public place, in the owner’s home or in a private place for example a neighbour’s house or garden.
"This applies to all dogs.
"Visit here for further advice on dangerous dogs, restrictions in public places and wide range of penalties from fines, removal/destruction of the dog to prison sentences.
"Please be responsible this summer and keep your dog under control at all times."
