Walker rescued after fracturing an ankle near Birchen Clough

Twelve rescue team personnel were involved for an hour and 45 minutes
On Tuesday afternoon (June 20), Oldham Mountain Rescue Team received an alert from the North West Ambulance Service asking for assistance with the location and treatment of a male who had sustained a fractured ankle while walking near Dovestones.
After establishing his whereabouts as near Birchen Clough, the team soon had a vehicle with a Casualty Carer on board heading in that direction.
Following assessment and treatment, he was transported down to the waiting NWAS ambulance at Yeoman Hey dam, while his companions and dogs were given a lift down to the car park.
A total of 12 OMRT personnel were involved for an hour and 45 minutes.
