Fire crews were scrambled to tackle a blaze at a Yodel distribution centre in Shaw on Monday evening (July 3).
Shortly after 8.30pm on Monday the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) received reports of a fire involving a building and a vehicle trailer in a loading area at the site on Beal Lane.
Three fire engines from Rochdale, Oldham and Chadderton attended the scene.
It took fire crews just under three hours to bring the blaze under control.
A GMFRS spokesperson said: “At 8:40pm last night we received a report about a fire at a commercial premises on Beal Lane, Shaw, involving a building and a vehicle trailer in a loading area.
“Three fire engines from Rochdale, Oldham and Chadderton were quickly at the scene, and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels and other equipment to extinguish the fire, ventilate smoke from the premises and make the area safe."
It is believed that a trailer involved in the fire was intended to go to Yodel’s delivery depot in Coventry, and that more than 2,100 parcels were destroyed.
