OMRT's Water Section demonstrate throwline techniques to officers from GMP Saddleworth and Lees, United Utilities, RSPB Dovestone and the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service
Oldham Mountain Rescue Team joined other partner agencies at Dovestones as part of Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week, where Greater Manchester Police had been engaging with the community.
Our picture shows members of OMRT's Water Section demonstrating throwline techniques to officers from GMP Saddleworth and Lees, United Utilities, RSPB Dovestone and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS).
The Saddleworth and Lees neighbourhood team were also handing out leaflets informing of the dangers of cold water shock and wildfire risk from BBQs.
Said OMRT leader Rob Tortoiseshell: "It was a great opportunity to meet with partner agencies in great surroundings.”
Meanwhile, last Thursday, the Oldham Mountain Rescue Team were alerted to a deer stuck in the overflow in Dovestone reservoir again.
Having been there all day, and again unable to make the jump out, three team members encouraged it down the overflow from where it entered the water and swam round to the beach next to the forest.
The team ensured the deer made it to dry land and up into the trees before heading back to base to dry out and sort kit.
Six OMRT personnel were involved for an hour.
