After accessing the quarry in one of the Oldham rescue team’s trusty Land Rovers, rescuers managed to drive straight to the casualty site
At tea time yesterday (Sunday), Oldham Mountain Rescue Team received an urgent request from North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust for assistance with the evacuation of a young female who was suffering from a medical condition in Newhey Quarry.
Paramedics were already on scene but, due to the nature of the location, had identified that the best way out would be in one of the rescue team's 4x4 vehicles.
After accessing the quarry in one of the team’s trusty Land Rovers, rescuers managed to drive straight to the casualty site.
She was then loaded into the vehicle and driven back down to the waiting NWAS ambulance for further assessment.
A total of 15 OMRT personnel were involved for just over one hour and 30 minutes.
