Man now charged following 'vehicle interference' reports in Mossley

A male suspect chased down before being arrested in Mossley yesterday (Friday) after someone had been spotted trying car doors close to Roaches Lock has now been charged.

Lewis Lowe (aged 33), of Reyner Street in Ashton, has now been charged and remanded for eight counts of vehicle interference, two counts of theft from motor vehicle and a theft of pedal cycle.

He is due to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court.

A post on the GMP Tameside North and East Facebook page yesterday read: "During the early hours of this morning officers on A Relief have responded to an incident having seen a post on Facebook about a male trying car doors in Mossley near to Roaches Lock.

"Officers immediately made the area, detaining a male after a foot pursuit.

"The male is currently in custody after being arrested on the suspicion of vehicle interference, and we are now appealing for potential victims as the male has acquired additional clothing/bags/tools since the post was created.

"No calls have been made to the police so we are keen to identify any victims."
