Four police scenes were put in place this afternoon (Wednesday) after an 18-year-old boy was reportedly stabbed in an Aldi car park.

Police have been conducting enquiries, including in Limeside, after a violent assault left the teenage victim seriously injured in Ashton this afternoon.

However, the four cordons that were put in place following the stabbing have now all been lifted.

Police officers have been reportedly conducting investigations at the Aldi store on Oldham Road, while a further scene was also in place on Warrington Street and also on Second Avenue in Limeside.

The victim suffered injuries which are serious, but not believed to be life threatening or life changing.

It has also been reported that an air ambulance was also seen taking off from Limeside this afternoon, which is believed to be connected to this incident.

A spokesperson for GMP said earlier: "At 2:10pm this afternoon, Greater Manchester Police received reports that a male had been stabbed on Dean Street, Ashton-under-Lyne.

"An 18-year-old male has been taken to hospital with serious injuries, but they are thankfully not believed to be life threatening or life changing.

"No arrests have been made at this time.

"Four scenes are in place and an investigation is underway."
