Latics are offering an exciting new opportunity for young women to develop their career in football.
For the 2024/25 season, the club will be launching a brand new Women’s Academy - and those aged 16-18 years old are now being invited to take part in an Open Day.
The Open Day will take place at the Little Wembley training ground, on the site of Latics' Boundary Park, on Friday, February 23, 2024 between 11am-1pm.
To register for the open day, please email: football.applications@oldhamathletic.co.uk, including brief details of your footballing experience.
Arrangements for the open day will be confirmed by return but participants should bring a kit, boots and water bottle.
As the women’s game continues to flourish, Latics chiefs are delighted to be launching a new academy for the 2024/25 season.
The full-time set-up offers a brilliant opportunity to receive professional football training whilst studying for an academic qualification, all at Boundary Park.
To be eligible for the academy and the open day, you must currently be in Year 11 at school.
The programme allows participants to obtain an NCFE Level 3 Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity.
This is not only a chance for young women to showcase their footballing talent, but also to be a part of a professional football club, both on and off the pitch.
The course will be led by coaches already working in the professional women’s game.
Latics have confirmed the appointment of the club’s new Female Development Officer, Holly Espie, herself a Uefa A candidate coach and current coach with Manchester United Women’s Academy.
Holly has significant experience of coaching within the women’s game at clubs including Blackburn Rovers and with Jill Scott Academy.
The new Oldham academy will also provide a pathway into the club's brand new women’s first team, as Latics welcome a new dawn for women’s football.
Those who join the academy will also receive a free kit bundle including boots, membership to Glo Gym, access to Oldham Athletic men’s home games and support for coaching qualifications.
Applications to join Latics' unique programme will be received by Female Development Officer Holly.
