A drug dealer who was found to have almost £20,000 in cash when stopped by a police patrol has been jailed.
Mitchell Bradley was stopped after being spotted by a patrol car in Greenfield in September, 2023.
Officers searched his VW Golf and found £19,400 in cash in a shopping bag and his jacket.
Also in the bag was a Nokia ‘burner’ phone and an older model iPhone, and Bradley was arrested.
Investigators found a debtors’ list in the Nokia that suggested Bradley was linked to drug deals worth more than £130,000.
Further money - 1,600 in US dollars - was found during a search of his home address in Hyde.
Bradley (aged 25), of Peak Place in Hyde, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and possession of criminal property, and was jailed for 45 months when he appeared at Minshull Street Crown Court on Wednesday (February 21).
Detective Sergeant Ian Parker, of GMP’s Tameside Challenger Team, said: “Investigations proved the phones belonged to Bradley and showed that, located within the Notes facility, there were numbers and figures which were identified as a debtors’ lists.
“The numbers recorded were staggering, in one section adding up to £37,480 and within another section £95,700.
“When interviewed, Bradley made no comment about the cash seized and the content of his phones.
“We believe Bradley was linked to organised crime for a number of years and hope his incarceration sends a message to others who think that dealing drugs is acceptable - our investigations into criminality of this type will be relentless.”
There will now be a proceeds of crime investigation.
