Local police officers have issued a plea to parents in Royton regarding the potentially serious dangers to youths who have been entering the disused Thornham mill.
A post on the GMP Royton & Shaw Facebook page read: "Recently there has been an increase in reports of youths entering Thornham mill in Royton.
"The mill is derelict and the youths are climbing to the upper floors, smashing wood and glass which is falling onto the road and pavement.
"This is extremely dangerous to both the youths (reported to be approximately 13+ years) and passers-by.
"Damage to vehicles and cycles has also been reported and a crime submitted for criminal damage.
"We are urging you as parents to speak to your kids about the dangers and put a stop to this activity.
"This has the potential to cause a serious accident.
"We will be carrying out Hi-Viz patrols in the area and all those identified will be dealt with appropriately."
