Greater Manchester Police have confirmed officers were called to a bizarre incident in which a man was seemingly driving a cherry picker near Chadderton Town Hall early yesterday morning (Wednesday).
At approximately 1.50am yesterday, police were called to reports of a man driving a cherry picker near Chadderton Town Hall.
Police were initially called to Russell Street, though video footage captures a man using the cherry picker on Middleton Road.
The video footage shows several police cars and vans were in attendance and had closed the road to attend to the man using the construction equipment.
The cherry picker had been extended to roof height.
GMP later confirmed officers were called to the incident and a man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.
A spokesperson for the force also said the man was arrested on suspicion of assault of an emergency worker.
