Mountain man Andy’s epic fundraising journey

A member of Oldham Mountain Rescue Team has returned from an epic solo five-week round motorcycle trip to Cyprus after successfully launching a unique fundraising effort.  

Andy Hadfield chose the sunshine island as his end destination because of family links, and used his once in a lifetime trip as a launch pad to raise money towards replacing the team’s Land Rovers. 

Currently the team has two Land Rovers which are now 14 years old, and they have set out a timeline for their replacements to ideally be by the end of 2025.

The team do not receive central funding to replace vehicles and the primary focus for replacements will be through fundraising and generous public donations.

Andy’s journey covered 6,200 miles and he visited 12 countries before returning safely from his marathon solo ride, and is now back to work, team training and on standby call outs.

So far he has raised £680 for the team with his sights set to his target of £1,000.
