GCSE results: 'Fantastic' results for E-ACT students in Oldham

Staff and students at E-ACT The Oldham Academy North and E-ACT Royton and Crompton are today celebrating a collection of fantastic GCSE results.
Teenagers across the country are celebrating today after sitting exams throughout May and June.
Despite the challenges of the last few years, young people across the country have recorded stunning successes at GCSE, with the students of E-ACT The Oldham Academy North and E-ACT Royton and Crompton no exception.
At E-ACT The Oldham North Academy, staff and students are celebrating an impressive set of results this year.
Nearly half of all students (48%) achieved strong passes (grade 5+) in both English and maths, marking a 7% increase from last year’s 41%.
The academy also saw a rise in top-tier grades (9-7) in subjects like Maths, Science, Chemistry, Physics, and Computing. Additionally, there was significant success in practical and vocational courses, with the academy achieving its best-ever results in Sport (95% Distinction) and Child Development (94%).
Individual student successes include:
Hasini Amarasingh achieved five grade 9s, three grade 8s, 1 grade 7 and a Level 2 Distinction in Child Development.
Hasini is going on to study A Levels in Biology, Chemistry & Maths at Blue Court 6th Form.
Niyazur Rahman achieved 7 grade 9s, one grade 8 and two grade 7s.
Niyazur is going on to 6th Form College to study Maths, Chemistry and Biology.
Ella Mclaughlin achieved three 9s in History, RS and English Language, and a mix of grade 8s, 7s and 6s.
Ella is going onto Oldham 6th Form College.
Sophia O’Brien and Inaaya Yusuf achieved a collection of grade 6s, 7s and 8s.
Both are going on to 6th Form Colleges. Inaaya will study Philosophy, Biology, Sociology, Health & Social, Sophia will study Biology, Chemistry and Psychology.
James Heney achieved a mix of grade 4s, 5s and 6s and is hoping to go to Hopwood Hall to study UPS (Uniform Public Services).
Over at E-ACT Royton and Crompton, there was much to celebrate too.
Staff have gone above and beyond to ensure their students were as prepared as possible for their GCSEs and this extra support paid off, with many students achieving excellent results, including:
Khatun Saima achieved five grade 9s, three grade 8s and one grade 7.
Atif Armaan achieved two grade 9s, three grade 8s, two grade 7s, one grade 6 and a Level 2 distinction in sports studies.
Ali Anisa achieved two grade 9s, two grade 8s, three grade 7s, one grade 5 and a Level 2 distinction in childcare.
Jessica Giraud, Headteacher at E-ACT The Oldham Academy North, said: “It’s wonderful to see our students smiling and celebrating this morning.
"Today is the culmination of years of hard work by our students and I’m incredibly proud of what they have achieved.
"I have no doubt that they will go on to do great things and wish them all the very best, whatever their next steps may be.”
Gemma Cottingham, headteacher at E-ACT Royton and Crompton, said: “I am so proud of our amazing students and want to say well done to them all.
"I have loved seeing so many happy and smiling faces in our academy corridors today and I know these young people absolutely deserve the grades they’ve received.
"So much hard work has gone into the results, and it is fantastic to see this rewarded.”
