Students get inspired for future careers

Radclyffe School students asked questions to explore career ideas
Representatives from a range of organisations, where students may choose to work and study, visited The Radclyffe School in Chadderton to inspire two year groups on the possibilities for exciting future careers.
The annual careers fair aims to reach both Year 11 students, as they consider their choices post-16, and Year 9 students who will be choosing their options for KS4 later this year.
The students were invited to move around the fifteen displays, from businesses and public sector employers, colleges and training organisations.
Asking questions to help them make the best decisions for their futures was the purpose of the day.
Among the colleges were several Oldham-based centres of learning, but also options to study a little further afield.
Year 11 students can look forward to visiting college Open Events this autumn to find the place that will be best fit for them.
Assistant Headteacher Daniel Corrigan said: “For our students, it’s never too early to start thinking about future options for careers or the education and training that will lead to them after they leave The Radclyffe School.
"With that in mind, this term has already seen us busy inspiring our young people with the amazing range of opportunities available to them.”
The careers fair is an important element in a programme of careers support spanning the five years that students spend at The Radclyffe School.
Each of the year groups in KS3 will enjoy an exciting introduction to a breadth of job options at their Industry Days.
This offers a chance to learn about what different jobs involve - from medicine to music, and from emergency services to environmental.
Radclyffe works closely with Oldham-based Positive Steps, which includes having dedicated Careers Advisors in school.
Students in all year groups can take advantage of this service.
As students progress through the school, one to one interviews will enable the young people to get a clearer understanding of the path they might want to take, and what they might need to achieve to follow it.
