Greater Manchester Police delivered a particularly popular workshop at Radclyffe
The Radclyffe School in Chadderton opened its doors to a wide range of employers, education providers and professionals as part of its careers programme.
The spotlight was on Year 8 students this time, who enjoyed an Industry Day, exploring different career pathways through a variety of hands-on workshops and talks.
These Industry Days take place each year for every year group and are designed to help students broaden their understanding of the world of work, by challenging stereotypes, raising aspirations and offering experiences that inform their choices, connecting their school learning with real-life opportunities.
This month’s event saw students engaging with guests from sectors including media, engineering, finance, public services, sport and more.
Greater Manchester Police delivered a particularly popular workshop, offering insight into the diverse roles within the force.
Students even took part in a timed challenge to see who could gear up in tactical kit the quickest, creating a memorable and energetic way to learn about life in frontline services.
Channel 4 ran a session on content creation and careers in media.
Their representative, Emily, praised the students, saying: "Thank you for having Channel 4!
"Super engaged and creative students who were totally up for getting involved.
"Would love to return for future sessions."
Other workshops gave students the chance to learn about drone technology, develop branding skills and gain exposure to the STEM, education and hairdressing sectors.
One of the most impactful moments of the day came from Nimrah Thapper, a former student of The Radclyffe School, who returned to speak to pupils about her career journey: "As a past student, it was great to be invited back and share my career.
"The students were very engaged and I was happy that I could return to inspire students the way that I was inspired."
The school extended its sincere thanks to all the organisations who took part, including NOV Fluid Motion Solutions, Greater Manchester Police, DNE Eko STEM, Barclays LifeSkills, Channel 4, Nimrah Thapper (TRS Alumni), OSFC, Dream Big Sports, Brand Identity and Evolve Hairdressing.
Staff at The Radclyffe School were proud of how well students conducted themselves and expressed their gratitude to the guests who made the day such a valuable experience.
These opportunities are vital in helping young people explore the full spectrum of careers open to them, empowering students to envision themselves in any role, without limits.
