The shocked owner of a popular moorland cafe near junction 22 on the M62 is tightening up security after it was ransacked by 'scumbags'.

Nicky Jackson, owner of Nicky's Food Bar, housed in a shipping container, was broken into on Thursday between 2pm and 7pm.

The locks had been forced and some money and stock taken, including cans and chocolate.

Speaking after the attack, Nicky said: ”I went back at 7 with some stock and found the doors open and the lock cut off, all the chocolate and snacks and cans stolen and the till emptied.

"Bottles and crisps were all over the floor.

“Thankfully they didn't take my generators as that would have been devastating.

"I have dash cam footage showing the doors still closed at 3.20 but there were two vans there.

"So I'm going to get the footage enhanced.”

She added: ”Police have been informed.

"I left the cafe at 2pm, returning at 7pm with some stock and the doors were wide open.

"They had emptied the till (of approximately £100) and taken around £150 worth of cans and chocolate bars.

"They had thrown bottles and cans around the floor.”

The attack has brought anger from customers who use the cafe and are offering support to Nicky.

One posted: ”I hope you are able to get your lovely little cafe back up and running soon, and that those responsible are traced and brought to justice."
