The stones which had been crafted in a specially created mini oasis of calm
Vandals have been told to buzz off after lovingly, hand-painted stones depicting birds and bees had been carelessly thrown into the river at Delph, Saddleworth.
The public warning came after Christopher Bannatyne discovered stones he had crafted in his specially created mini oasis of calm were missing.
He said: ”The birds an bees had been thrown in the river by some idiot.
"I went swimming to get them back but could not find them all.
“However, they are rebuilt built and painted.
"Now they are all happy on the birds and bees block again.
“This happened since the schools have broken up for summer.
"Last week there were two birds missing and a young boy was so upset he and his mum made two more to replace them.
"It’s a shame that some toe rags spoil it for others."
And there was a written warning from Mr Bannatyne which reads: ”I would like to thank the brainless, mindless individual that has spoiled many people's happiness by throwing the birds and bees in the river.
"We hope you enjoyed it! Please do not do it again.”
