After a thorough investigation into the distribution of controlled drugs, police officers from Operation Vulcan and the Oldham Complex Safeguarding Team executed a coordinated day of action this morning (Tuesday).
This follows an earlier recovery of controlled drugs, in which officers carried out some forensic analysis during their investigation, identifying a number of suspects believed to be involved in the supply of large quantities of class B drugs.
The Vulcan team subsequently secured three arrests this morning and seized suspected drugs as part of their commitment to tackling criminality in the Derker area.
The early-morning action comes following intelligence gathered within the community regarding the supply of drugs, and saw three address targeted in the St Mary’s and Holts areas.
In total, two men and a boy were arrested across two of the properties – aged 24, 18, and 17 – on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs.
Following today’s arrests, a systematic search of the suspects' property was performed, leading to the discovery of additional class B drugs and electronic devices.
Further work with the complex safeguarding team will be undertaken in the coming weeks.
The three arrests add to the tally of more than 120 arrested in the near six months since Operation launched in Derker, for offences ranging from drugs supply to theft and weapons offences.
Inspector Dan Cullum, from GMP’s Vulcan team, said: “Today’s action comes as part of Vulcan’s commitment to ridding the streets of Derker and surrounding areas of illicit substances that can cause immeasurable harm to the community.
“We are dedicated to working with all appropriate partners and teams to find and punish those responsible for crimes, while safeguarding vulnerable people who need our help.
“As always, we would ask anyone with any information regarding criminality in their area to get in touch with us – either directly or anonymously.”
