Major Eddy Hardaker has joined Our Campaigns as the Chair of a high-profile local campaign to find a solution for better parking at Royal Oldham Hospital.

A lifelong Oldhamer, Major Hardaker serves with the 75 Engineer Regiment and has dedicated his life to public service since joining the Armed Forces in 1979.

He brings extensive experience of leadership and operations from his distinguished military career, alongside decades of community service and charitable involvement across Oldham.

Major Hardaker was awarded a Military Commendation for his work in Afghanistan in the New Year Honours List 2011, in recognition of his heroic service and life-saving work, a true testament to his courage, integrity and dedication to others.

Campaign organisers are deeply grateful to Major Hardaker for volunteering his time, energy and expertise to lead this important local campaign.

Major Hardaker said: “I am honoured to take on this role with Our Campaigns.

"Having lived in Oldham for many years, I’ve seen first-hand the challenges faced by patients, carers and NHS staff trying to access hospital services.

"No one should be made to feel anxious or delayed when seeking or providingncare.

"This campaign is about fairness, compassion and practical solutions.

"I’m looking forward to working with residents and hospital partners to find a way forward that improves access and supports the incredible work our hospital team does every day.”

Dr Zahid Chauhan, from Our Campaigns and the former Mayor of Oldham, said: “At Our Campaigns, we are determined to lead a positive and constructive movement, one that works hand-in-hand with the hospital and for the community it serves.

"I want to thank Major Hardaker for standing with us and with the people of Oldham.

"His leadership and commitment will help ensure that this campaign remains focused on collaboration, compassion and real improvement for patients, carers and NHS staff alike.”
