Date published: 22 November 2025

SPARK Oldham CIC, a non-profit Community Interest Company, hosted an event for International Men’s Day at Grains Bar Hotel in Oldham.

Spark brought together men and other community members for an evening of celebration and connection.

The event created a relaxed atmosphere for attendees to engage with one another whilst listening to a series of inspiring talks from a range of speakers.

Topics included men’s health and wellbeing to community involvement, which highlighted the important contributions men make in their families and communities.

Adding to the atmosphere, live music was provided by Sam Hewitt, whose performance helped make the evening memorable.

The Mayor of Oldham joined in with the speeches and celebrations.

“The goal of our International Men’s Day event was to celebrate men in the community whilst encouraging conversation about wellbeing,” said Kim Rogers, Founder of SPARK Oldham CIC.

“It was fantastic to see so many people come together to share stories.

"If we can prepare for the storms in our lives by supporting each other it's what is needed so men don't suffer or feel alone.

"Thank you to everyone who spoke and shared the story - it was inspiring."

One attendee, anonymously shared that they were “grateful to have events like this” and they “loved the variation of stories focusing on how mental health can affect anyone.”

This event reflects Spark Oldham’s commitment to promoting mental wellbeing and supporting those in the community.

Organisers were grateful to the sponsors of the event, The Casey group, Cornerstones, Albion House wealth management, North Ainley Solicitors, VPS, ABL, Rowan Ashworth, the Oldham Chronicle and Oldham RLFC.

Massive thanks to Kirsty from Firewalks events for the board breaking, Action Together for supporting the event and the men, organisations, speakers and everyone who is reaching out to support others.
