The heart-warming Christmas concert raised over £2,600 for Dr Kershaw's
Oldham Parish Church was alive with the sound of music as the Dr Kershaw’s annual Christmas concert got people in the festive spirit.
The heartwarming evening raised over £2,600 for the Royton-based hospice, which will now help to support people who need inpatient or at-home palliative care.
During the event, the packed pews enjoyed performances from Dr Kershaw’s Hospice Choir, Hope Singers and Crompton House School Woodwind Ensemble.
Students from the Brian Clarke Church of England Academy treated attendees to a poetry recital and rousing renditions of ‘Sing Noel’ and ‘When Christmas Comes to Town’.
The audience joined in with classic carols and the hospice’s festive tradition of ‘The Twelve Hospice Days of Christmas’.
This fun take on the popular song sees the lyrics replaced with things that can be found around the hospice, including gardeners and cups of tea.
TV actress Kimberly Hart-Simpson also took to the stage to read a humorous poem.
Alice Entwistle, fundraising events lead at Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, said: “What a joyous evening!
“How blessed we are to have such an amazing community behind us.
“As Oldham’s only hospice, we really do appreciate the kindness and support we receive.
“Whether you attend our events, donate prizes for our raffles, or visit our charity shops, you are enabling us to continue providing high-quality care across Oldham.
“Thank you so much to everyone who helped to make this event a success – especially our volunteers, our choir conductor Paul Firth, and the Reverend Canon Daniel Burton.”
