A retired HR administrator who volunteers for the Friends of Dunwood Park in Shaw is First Choice Homes Oldham’s (FCHO) June Hidden Hero after she was praised for her ‘outstanding contribution’ to the group.

Janet Nuttall takes the lead on grants and fundraising for the friends due to her skills in book-keeping, money management and handling cash.

The 68-year-old has a long history of local volunteering and has been with the friends for around a year.

She was nominated for the award by Shaw and Crompton parish councillor and chair of the friends Joseph Beeston.

“Janet Nuttall is a truly valued member of the Friends of Dunwood Park team, and her dedication to our community deserves special recognition,” he said.

“She consistently goes above and beyond in everything she does, giving her time generously to support our activities, improve the park, and help bring people together.

“Her enthusiasm, commitment, and willingness to help wherever needed have made a real and lasting difference to both the group and the wider community."

He added: "On behalf of everyone at Friends of Dunwood Park, I would like to thank Janet for her outstanding contribution. We are extremely fortunate to have her and this recognition is thoroughly deserved."

Mrs Nuttall received her certificate and a £50 shopping voucher from FCHO’s neighbourhood co-ordinator for Shaw and Crompton Rebecca Poff.

The mother of two and grandmother of one said: “"I'm absolutely thrilled to be nominated as a Hidden Hero. I love being involved with the Friends of Dunwood Park, helping make the park where I live a lovely place for the community.

“As a Shaw resident for forty years, it's important to me to give back. I don't do it for recognition, but being recognised for the effort I put in is a lovely feeling."
