The police action forms part of Operation Vortex, where officers from GMP's Specialist Operations Branch are deployed to proactively target drivers and vehicles to ensure roads are safer.
In just one day, Transport Police Community Support Officers and the Transport Unit discovered a number of road offences on Broadway in Chadderton.
- 22 Seatbelt offences
- 14 Non conforming vehicle registrations
- 3 Use of mobile phones
- 1 Driving without insurance
- 1 Driving without a valid licence
One disqualified driver was also remanded in custody.
Speaking after an earlier Operation Vortex crackdown on driving offences, Chief Inspector Danny Byrne, of GMP's Roads Policing Unit, said: "Making Greater Manchester's roads safer is a priority for us. Last year alone, there were 67 fatal road traffic collisions which resulted in 71 deaths.
"I would like to use this opportunity to say that Operation Vortex doesn't stop here. We will be running this operation targeting illegal drivers and vehicles in areas across Greater Manchester on unannounced dates."
