Saddleworth Women’s Morris and Clog side are looking pleased ahead of their debut performance this Saturday.
That's because they have received a generous £250 grant this week, from Tesco in Greenfield, which has met the cost of the leather bell pads needed to help complete their dance kit.
Ed Morris, a member of Saddleworth Morris Men for 24 years, helped to get the group off the ground with Lucy Marstin, the side’s squire and forewoman, mastering new dances from scratch for their first appearance.
He said: "Tesco’s grant is an amazing boost and will help us step out in proper Morris style!
"We're really grateful to Greg Barratt at Tesco, their community champion, for helping us out.”
The side will be dancing first around 1.30-2pm on Saturday in the centre of Uppermill, with a couple more dance spots in the village between 2pm-4pm.
