The Oldham Mountain Rescue Team have been involved in two incidents in the last few days.
On Tuesday afternoon, the team were contacted by Greater Manchester Police to assist with a gentleman who had fallen a considerable distance in a disused quarry near Uppermill in Saddleworth.
Medics from North West Ambulance and the North West Air Ambulance service were on scene quickly to provide medical aid.
They were later assisted by the North West Hazardous Area Response Team (HART).
Due to the location of the incident, the team were tasked with the extrication of the patient.
The patient was placed in a vacuum mattress for immobilisation and then placed on a team stretcher.
Using a rope hauling system, the stretcher and patient were brought out of the quarry pit and carried a short distance to the ambulance for the onward journey to hospital.
Fifteen Oldham team members were involved for two-and-a-half hours.
