Brad Day will remain a Roughyed for at least another season after the second rower signed a one-year contract, with the option of a further year.
The 32-year-old is the seventh player confirmed to be staying with Oldham as the Roughyeds’ squad for 2027 begins to take shape.
And the former Featherstone and Halifax back-rower is excited after hearing the club’s plans for next year.
"We’ve got a good group here and there are some things building,” he said.
"I’m happy to sign and I’m really looking forward to next year.
"I had a bit of a tough start with concussions and a few injuries, but I think in the back end of the season I have shown what I can do.
"From what I can see, we’re assembling a good squad for next year as well. We will keep most of the lads that are here now and we’ll just keep building.
"There are some really good signings and really positive steps forward from the club.
"The new board has come in, and they are doing a good job.
"That is giving assurances to us as players and I think that is showing on the pitch as well.
"We’ll be pushing towards the top end of the table so if we keep working as we have been, we’ll have another good season next year.”
Brad signed for the club back in February and has been a key member of the side, scoring six tries in 18 appearances.
Day has brought an abundance of top-end Championship experience, given his 200+ appearances in the competition.
And boss Alan Kilshaw said that has been vital to him and his team this year.
“Brad was my first signing as head coach, so I’m delighted that he has agreed to stay with us for a further two seasons.
"He has been one of our most consistent players this year, primarily in the back row, where his hard running and tough defence have made him a real handful for opposition teams.
"With Brad now more settled at the club and having a solid pre-season with us, I’m expecting him to go to another level and be even better next season.”
