Oldham have secured another statement signing, with half-back Ata Hingano joining the club on a three-year deal.
The 29-year-old arrives at Boundary Park after making 26 appearances for York Knights during their inaugural Super League season.
Hingano brings a wealth of experience to the Roughyeds, having played in the NRL for both New Zealand Warriors and Canberra Raiders.
A Tongan international, Hingano starred at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup and has made eight appearances for his country.
He has spent the past five seasons with York, making 96 appearances for the Knights after initially joining on loan.
The move was made permanent in 2023, and Hingano went on to claim both the coaches’ and players’ Player of the Year awards the following season.
He also helped York lift the 1895 Cup in 2025, before showcasing his versatility last season by moving into the loose-forward role during the second half of the campaign.
“Ata is a talented footballer with a strong kicking and passing game," said Oldham boss Alan Kilshaw.
"His ability to play in a number of positions will give us some good options next season.
"One of the biggest things for me throughout the conversations with Ata was that he wanted to come to Oldham for the right reasons.
"He had other opportunities available to him which were financially more rewarding, but he bought into what we are trying to build here and wants to be part of it.
"I think that says a lot about him as a person and the type of characters we want to bring into the club.
"Finally, I would like to thank Martin Hall for his commitment and hard work in getting this deal over the line.”
“Signing Ata is a major coup for us," said chairman Terry Flanagan MBE.
"We see him being integral to our team and plans going forward. Our mutual commitment is a sign of the positive momentum we are building.”
