VALENTINE’S Day gave the Halle Orchestra an excuse to pull love songs from every decade of the 20th century out of the hat.
Some were synonymous with divas Whitney Houston (”I Will Always Love You”), Bette Midler (”The Rose”), Bonnie Tyler (”Total Eclipse of the Heart”) and Celine Dion (”My Heart Will Go On”).
Singer Anna-Jane Casey nailed each of them brilliantly - including the poignant “When She Loved Me” from “Toy Story 2.”, for which conductor Stephen Bell took to the piano
Saturday’s Valentine’s concert was the latest in the Halle Pops series, expertly put together by Bury-born Bell
The concert also included romantic classical items, including Elgar’s “Salut d’Amour,” which he presented to his soon-to-be wife, Alice as he proposed.
