The champion Saddleworth School Year 8 basketball team
The Saddleworth School Year 8 basketball team were crowned champions of Oldham after an enthralling 10-8 victory over Oasis Academy in the final of the annual tournament staged at Failsworth School.
Charlie Fallows scored a "buzzer beating hook shot" in the second period of over-time after the scores were locked at 8-8 after the normal period of play.
Earlier victories against Newman Academy, Failsworth, Oasis Leesbrook and a 13-4 semi-final win over Crompton House meant that the Saddleworth team were unbeaten across five matches of afternoon play.
Harry Jenner Hall and Alex West from Year 10 provided excellent officiating skills as volunteer referees throughout the event.
